Unable to Deploy DPM 2012 SP1 Agent to Target Server

It’s sound weird but this is just happening to me. I got a project which just require to deploy DPM 2012 SP1 into the environment which need to protect physical hyper-v server and virtual machine running Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. The funny thing is I can successful deploy agent to Windows Server 2012 VM but failed to Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Error message that I received is “Error 347:- An error occurred when the agent operation attempted to create the DPM agent coordinator service”

Search using Google and Tech-Net article advice to perform manual agent installation. Tried that as well but failed to load the setup launch Screen.

Thanks to Flemming which has posted the solution.

Here is the summary of the solution which I have taken:-

a) Install

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64) or

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) depend on your target guest operating system version.

b) Install .Net Framework 3.5 SP1

c) Re-deploy DPM Agent to the target VMs.

d) If still having the issue, you may want to deploy .Net Framework 3.5 with SP1

Error Failed to Create or Launch Virtual Machine Settings dialog for Virtual Machine Using Failover Cluster Manager snap-in.

Just encountered an error message as display below:-

SNAGHTML9dc11f

Scenario

a) Two nodes Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V Cluster (Host1, Host2)

b) Some VMs resides in Host1  and some in Host2.

c) We can “Connect” VM using Failover Cluster Manager snap-in but when try to view VM Settings, we received the above error message. This only happen when VM is reside in another host owner. Example:-

VM reside in Host1.

On Host2, use Failover Cluster Manager snap-in to view VM Settings. You will receive above error message.

On Host1, no issue reported.

d) Using another domain account to access to the server

Resolution

This is how I resolved this issue:

a) Open azman.msc (Authorization Manager snap-in)

b) Open the InitialStore.xml which located in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\InitialStore.xml

image

d) Add the user account that you login to access the Failover Cluster Manager snap-in the Role Assignments | Administrator

That should do the trick and you will not receive any error message when view VM Settings from Failover Cluster Manager snap-in.

Error Could not update managed code add-in pipeline in VMM 2012 SP1

Scenario:-

1. Open VMM 2012 SP1 Console and received an error message:-

"Could not update managed code add-in pipeline due to the following error:

Access to the path 'C:\Program files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Virtual Machine Manager\Bin\AddInPipeline\PipelineSegments.store' is denied"

Resolution:-

The following is the step that I took to resolve this issue

1. Navidate to 'C:\Program files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Virtual Machine Manager\Bin\AddInPipeline and change the security permission

a) Add vmm service account – Full Control

b) Add Domain Administrator – Full Control

c) Then open the VMM 2012 SP1 Console. You will not receive any error message.
